MEEDIAMULL – TIMO TOOTS

2008 • INTERACTIVE NETWORK-BASED INSTALLATION

Meediamull is an interactive installation that consists of a beamer projecting snippets of live internet news titles from above down around a rotating plate. The installation is only active if the visitor makes contact with the plate. Just as in real life, the consumption of flowing information depends on the movements of the consumer.
The Internet news titles are coming from local, regional and/or national RSS feed of the most read online newspapers or info websites. These « big titles » while being projected, are read by a digital voice (text to speech software) in real time.

Treatments/actions (with Dirk Heesakker):
. Assistance of the artist during the partial portage from Mac OS to Ubuntu
. Documentation and annotation of the source code
. Documentation of the installation
. Interview of the artist
