RAW MATERIAL-BRRR – BRUCE NAUMAN

1990 • VIDEO INSTALLATION

In 1990, Bruce Nauman made a group of three video sculptures, each of which comprises pairs of stacked monitors and a related wall projection. In one he hums forth a flurry of «OK»s; and in the third he shakes his head furiously as the sound «Brrr» spills out.

Unshaven and a burst haggard, Nauman’s head is cropped and bathed in alternating shades of icy green and blue.

Although not as complex as some of the video installation of the late 1980s, the three « raw material » pieces were filled with ideas consonant with Bruce Nauman current work.
