ZERO HIDROGRÀFICO – GISELA MOTTA & LEONARDO LIMA

2010 • KINETIC LIGHT INSTALLATION

This kinetic installation is a multisensory experience with an orthogonal grid of floating fluorescent lamps. Using an elaborate system of rods sliding vertically and blue neon tubes on the horizontal plane, this ensemble generates a wave-like pattern of movement, imitating the undulating surface of the water. With this the artists are not only creating an interplay of lines that is always changing, but also referring to the fact that the zero point from which the sea is measured is not fixed.
